What is IPL & SHR?

All clients will have a free skin consult where we discuss what you would like to gain, complete client forms and assess which skin type you are and perform a patch test in or close to the area we will treat.
- Please shave the night before treatment
- No sun exposure, sun beds, or fake down
- do not wax or pluck 4 weeks before first treatment.
- Do not use prescription strength creams (Retin-A or active cosmetics)
24 hours later we can perform the first treatment.
What to expect
- Mild sunburn like sensation is anticipated.This usually resolves within 2-3 hours of the treatment but can persist for up to 2 days.
- Appearance of stubble may appear in 1-3weeks. This growth is not hairy re growth. It is the remnant of treated hairs being expelled from follicle. Allow this hair to fall out, you can shave during this period.
Post treatment
- Application of chilled aloe vera gel or a cold pack every hour for 5-10 minutes may be soothing to the skin.
- Avoid sun exposure to treated areas.
- Apply sun cream with SBF30 daily.
- Avoid extremely hot water, spas etc
- Avoid scented lotions, active creams and exfoliation
- Do not pick or remove any skin crusting, leave to heal.
Until redness has completely resolved avoid ;
- Avoid all active cosmetics
- no swimming
- no hot tubs and jacuzzis
- no excessive exercise
- no sun exposure

DOES IPL HURT?
Can be a maybe a mild sensation, often described as a rubber band flicking on your skin.
HOW LONG BEFORE I SEE RESULTS?
It is possible to see results as soon as 2 days after IPL Treatment, pores and skin laxity tighten.Many clients have noticed a reduction in rosacea and fine lines in just a week.For more dramatic results, most people need 3-5 treatments 4 weeks apart.
I HAVE TATTOOS, CAN I STILL GET IPL?
Not if the area you would like to treat is where the tattoo is.However it is possible to cover the tattoo and treat skin around the tattoo.If the ipl touches the tattoo it will fade/lighten or even burn the skin.
IS IPL SAFE?
IPL is safe and effective method for removing unwanted hair and various skin treatments.IPL uses no uv light so there is no risk of cancer.
HOW DOES SHR HAIR REMOVAL WORK?
It emits light into the skin.The light is then absorbed by the pigmentation in the hair and turned into heat.This is absorbed by the follicle, disrupting the hair and preventing it from growing back.
IS IPL HAIR REMOVAL SUITABLE FOR ME?
Most people are suitable -skin test on initial consult will determine whether it is possible. Skin type 1-5 are treatable however unfortunately skin type 6 is not possible.Blond and red heads are also able to be treated with this latest technology.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE HAIR TO FALL OUT?
Facial hair will take 7-10 days to fall out while body hair may take 2-3 weeks.Individuals results will depend on your skin type, hair coarseness and natural growth cycle.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Most clients require 8-10 to achieve optimal results.Hair will be reduced and become finer with each treatment.Some people will require maintenance treatments for a lifetime of smooth skin.
